Color Throwdown 125

This week's Color Throwdown challenge really appealed to me. I love these soft neutrals even though I usually prefer brighter colors. The flowers were made after I separated the two layers of blushing bride card stock which made them easier to scrunch. I am really enjoying the seam binding ribbon. I love the texture which has a bit of a weave and just a hint of sheen.  This can be used on a variety of projects, masculine, feminine romantic or clean and modern. The layout was inspired by Windy Robinson's layout in this month's Papercrafts magazine - a very clean yet romantic card.

Paper - blushing bride, very vanilla and crumb cake card stock

Ink - crumb cake, pear pizzazz, blushing bride

Accessories - scallop circle punch, 1" circle punch, crumb cake seam binding, lots of tags die cut, dimensionals, small brads.

PPA55 Color Challenge

This week's PPA color challenge was definitely that challenging us to use Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight. These are quite bright colors so I wanted to add a lot of white space. I used one of my favorite backgrounds Bella Toile and paired it with the new Basic Pearl Jewels for a quick thank you card.

Can't Wait Toile Spring

Ahhh Spring, with flowers blooming, birds singing and butterflies floating about. PPA's challenge this week is a spring theme. I immediately thought of my new stamp set "Spring Song". This card definitely evolved from the first layout I imagined.  I had something else in my mind when I started with this little humming bird. I knew I wanted to put him in a garden with his beautiful flower. I have had the idea in my head since last week, but along with the beginning of Spring comes baseball, softball, spring football,  and both my kid's birthdays - SO- I didn't have the opportunity to stamp until last night.  I pictured leaves and flowers layered over the hummingbird but I just couldn't get the effect I wanted until I put him over the Belle Toile stamp. I am pleased with how he turned out and am ready for Spring - and a nap!

PPA28 - Color Challenge - A French Song Bird

 

This week's PPA challenge is to use the above colors. Well, this card definitely has a lot going on. I have been wanting to use the little bird in the cage from the Happy Moments set. I mistakenly ordered the stamp set in french but decided to keep it and use the french greetings to mix things up a bit. Well, my little french bird needed some french decor and what is more appropriate than a little toile? French decor usually has lots of layers so I added lots of elements to this card such as the epoxy brad layered with the filigree brad on top of the ribbon, on top of some scallops - whew! Prior to making this card, I had just a moment to practice on the piano and thought this bird needed some notes to sing so I added some notes to his little greeting.

Stamping Royalty #3 - ONE Layer - AHHHHHHHH

Stamping Royalty has issued a CHALLENGE this week. Make a card using only one layer. This was such a challenge for me because I love layers. Well, here is my card. I like it for the challenge and will use the design in the future, but of course, I will add a layer with the greeting. I really like how the Bella Toile stamp turned out when colored. I am definitely going to experiment with this some more. Perhaps try it with some wild colors:).
