Masculine Birthday - The Deconstructed Sketch

This weekend was my husband's birthday. You would think that I would know exactly what type of birthday card to make for him, but I struggled with this one. I found a new sketch blog, Deconstructed Sketches,  that looks so cool and the sketch jumped at me right away. I decided to go to the Well Worn paper and start from there. I think Well Worn has a great color combination for masculine cards ( which are so hard to create).  None of my images seemed to fit my husband so I went with a sentiment only and added some embellishments to jazz it up a bit.

Ahhh now on to the challenge of making a masculine Valentine card.

Stamps - Engraved Greetings, Established Elegance, Since of Time
Ink - Not Quite Navy, Soft Suede, Early Espresso
Paper - Well Worn DSP, crumb cake, very vanilla, not quite navy and early espresso card stock
Accessories - square lattice embossing folder, 1 1/4" circle punch, vintage tags, brads, linen thread, dimensionals

Mojo Monday - Boy's Birthday

Today's Mojo Monday Sketch came in handy for a boys birthday card. I took the star element literally and distressed most of the items to get a vintage almost circus feel for the card.

Ink - Early Espresso
Paper - BG Max and Wiskers, early espresso, poppy parade, marina mist and very vanilla card stock
Accessories - 1" , 1/2", 1 1/4", 1 3/8" circle punches, Big Shot Stars #2 die, dimensionals

Mojo Three Ways

My son has much to be thankful for and needed some thank you cards for birthday gifts he received. I took this week's Mojo Monday sketch and created 3 different versions. None are feminine so I am sure he will feel comfortable using them. I have been wanting to work with this sketch all week and finally got a few moments to create cards this afternoon. Can't wait for the new sketch tomorrow.

Card for a Gun Slinger

I made this card to thank a friend of the family's for taking my son shooting. In the process Jake killed a skillet which he was very proud of. Again, once I saw this Engraved Greetings stamp set, I knew I would get much use from it especially for masculine cards.

Paper - marina mist, early espresso card stock
Stamp - engraved Greetings, Woodgrain
Ink - early espresso
Accessories - dimensionals

I'm Baaacckk - PPA54 - A Masculine Kiss

I am finally back after my many travels in July. I think I was in the airport more than I was home for the month. The first of the month, I traveled to Washington state to see my family and celebrate my Mom's 75th birthday. As always we have so much fun with the family and laugh a lot. I was home for a week then off to the Stampin' Up! convention in Salt lake City. I had a fabulous time and can't tell you how excited I am about all the new products and information I learned. Upon my return, I had two days to get ready for a 10 day trip to Spain. Then it was off to Madrid followed by the Basque Country. I think our motto for the trip should be " We drove, We saw, We ate."

Anywhoo, it is so good to be back home - m m must s s st st stamp! and what a perfect way to start stamping again than with the PPA challenge. This week is a double challenge a masculine KISS ( keep it simple sweetie). When I first went through the new Idea Book and Catalog, I nearly missed the Engraved Greetings stamp set ( it is in the Simply Sent section), but once I saw it, I had to have these sentiments for my masculine cards. To keep it simple I used a straight forward layout with a few of my new favorite colors Marina Mist, Peach Parfait and Early Espresso.

Stamps - Engraved Greetings, Woodgrain
Ink - Early Espresso
Paper - early espresso, marina mist, peach parfait, whisper white card stock
Accessories - brads, color spritzer tool, dimensionals
