Tara Bilbao (you are here)
My Project today is a somewhat simple Thanksgiving Decor Item. I get so annoyed with the department stores putting Christmas decorations up before it is even Halloween. They seem to skip Thanksgiving altogether - ACK! I love Thanksgiving. Don't get me wrong I am a Holly Jolly Girl through and through, but THERE IS A HOLIDAY BETWEEN HALLOWEEN AND CHRISTMAS!! OK enough of my ranting.
I decorate my house for Thanksgiving and wanted to make a little something for my entryway . In order to get the scale a bit larger than the stamped image, I turned to my handy, dandy My Digital Studio to give the background a distressed look and to print out the Thanksgiving sentiment. I added a few hand made flowers and some pewter embossed leaves in a simple layout and I have a Thanksgiving decor item for my hall table. Yes Virginia, there is a Thanksgiving:)
I realized my center piece was crooked after I took this picture - I fixed that! |
Paper - whisper white, very vanilla, old olive, early express more mustard card stock
Ink - soft suede for distressing, more mustard, early espresso, old olive, cajun craze, bravo burgundy
Stamps - My Digitial Studio - Autumn Spice Digital Kit
Accessories - 1 3/4", 1 3/8" , 1", 3/4" circle punches, scallop border trim punch, glimmer brad, small brads, frame
I have blog CANDY! Leave a comment and I will randomly select a winner that will recieve a "Button, Button" clear stamp set along with a ribbon assortment.
Very pretty, I love hybrid projects!

ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI love your Thanksgiving decoration! This is one holiday that seems to have been forgotten by most everyone! Halloween is now as big as Christmas - from yard decorations to cards, etc. - and very little is even created for Thanksgiving!Thank you for sharing!
Wishing you a great weekend!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane

ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful, Tara! It will make a lovely statement to those who enter you home. I agree with you about Thanksgiving. As soon as all of the Halloween hoopla is over, the Christmas frenzy begins. We need to take the time to slow down and really reflect on all we have to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteTara, this is gorgeous! Love the colors, the flowers, the digi...and that frame is to die for. What a great addition to your home.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You have inspired me to learn to use MDS.

ReplyDeleteTara, this is beautiful - I love the handmade flowers you created - such a great accent to the sentiment for the frame! Love your Thanksgiving decor story - I'm the same way. It's a pet peeve of mine to see Thanksgiving practically skipped over in the stores as well.

ReplyDeleteOh my, what a gorgeous project - I love the simplicity of your frame, I love how space is a feature on its own, cos it draws the eye to object, just as it does here in your project ... love too the tiny flowers and leaves ... a picture perfect creation!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration!!!
Very pretty project! Love the flowers. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove your Fall decor project and wouldn't have thought to use MDS for something like this. Tend to agree that Thanksgiving seems to take a back seat to any other holiday. The frame you chose is gorgeous and really compliments your layout. Would love to win your blog candy ~ doesn't get any better than "fake" buttons and ribbon to finish a project!
ReplyDeleteDebbie G
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Thanksgiving decor. I agree about the stores skipping over Thanksgiving. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hybrid MDS! It's like another language for those of us in AUS ... but one day we might be lucky enough to see it for ourselves. I must admit ... I am still a bit "iffey" about it ... but this "hybrid" version is definitely fabulous. Much more of a "handmade" look than straight printed cards. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteSpendid idea for a Fall hostess gift. Such Beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteHi Tara! Your framed artwork is amazing! I love how you tweaked MDS to fit your needs. I don't have that and will need to add that to my wishlist. Your flowers and leaves are gorgeous of course! Love this sentiment and all that it means. Rant on girlie, your home decor is so much more meaningful than the department stores!

ReplyDeleteI am so "with you" on your feelings about our "skipped" holiday/season. I LOVE fall and Thanksgiving, and can remember when it was a HOLIDAY! Christmas didn't start until Thanksgiving was over, and it still doesn't at my house. This framed print is stunning, and the flowers are to die for! Gorgeous! TFS!
ReplyDeleteHi Tara! Love your blog and your Thanksgiving frame is just so pretty! I may have to case this for some of my own Thanksgiving decor. Thanks for the chance to win your blog candy.

This is just beautiful, so elegant! I love Thanksgiving and agree with you that it's definitely overlooked! I hate that Christmas decorations are already in stores before Halloween is even here! I know this looks so beautiful hanging in your entryway! Thanks too for the chance to win some fabulous blog candy!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I love Thanksgiving too - family reunion to see all the loved ones. We live in Ohio so sometimes the weather hinders our visit during Christmas so we truly treasure our thanksgiving together. Adios, glad
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love seeing how other people use the digital studio. I have it but find I don't use it much. You project gives me inspiration to get in there and create!
